| Sgt. Phyllis Hayes |
![]() ![]() Phyllis Hayes is a native of
Atlanta, Ga. She graduated from L. P. Miles Elementary, C. L. Harper High, and Georgia State University with a Bachelors of Social Work.
She was Captain of the Softball and Track Team in High School and
played varsity basketball in High School and for Middle Georgia College. She ran track in the Police Olympics and placed gold in the
state for three straight years and broke a record in the 100 meters
at the Police and Fire Olympics in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987. She has
been with the Police Department for 28 years and worked several units
such as Mounted Patrol, Tactical Unit, Crimes against Children, Zone
1, 5, and Zone 3. She enjoys working with teens and being a mentor.
While completing her internship at Georgia State she was assign to
the C. E. P. School where she met and mentored a troubled teen and
eventually took her in her home to live with her and family for a
year. Afterwards, Sgt. Hayes was able to get her enrolled in the Job
Corps in Brunswick, Ga. Sgt. Hayes took juveniles on probation to
the shelters to help feed the homeless and implemented PAL Teen Forum
where teens would participate in workshops and debates.

Officer Josue E. Blocus |
My name is Officer Josue Edmond Blocus and I was born in Saint-Claude, Basse-Terre,Guadeloupe France. I am a French heavyweight boxer best known to compete in the 1996 Olympics and I also turned pro in 1997. In 2007 I rebounded and scored the biggest win of my pro career beating Canadian champ, David Cadieux. I am a heavyweight artist with 16 wins 14 knock-outs and 2 losses. I am a world top 15 heavyweight, former NABO heavyweight champion, and former Olympian. I am also an Atlanta Police Officer sworn in June 2009 and was assigned to Zone 4 evening-watch shift as a patrol officer. I am now assigned to the Pal Division working out of A.D. Williams Park. I am looking forward to teaching kids the fundamentals of boxing and also mentoring to them. |

My name is Hiram R. Fantauzzi. I am Puerto Rican and was born in Bronx, New York. At the age of 12 my parents moved back to Puerto Rico. During my teenage years, I played basketball, baseball and also participated at track and field. My favorite sports growing up were basketball in which I played college basketball at the InMter American University in Puerto Rico and also baseball in which I played two years with the Florida Marlins. Over the years, I have been dedicated to coaching and teaching children the importance of having good discipline in and outside of sports. My goal is to teach them how important it is to work as a team and how important life values are for each one of us. I have been an Atlanta Police Officer for the past 6 years and I am now assigned to the P.A.L. unit. |

Officer Alex G. Hutchins |
![]() My name is Officer Alex G. Hutchins and I was born and raised in the city of Atlanta, and grew up in the Dixie Hills area. I attended Anderson Park Elementary, Turner High, and Fort Valley State University. I played football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and golf, and have good skills in table tennis and billiards. I played on the Atlanta Police Department basketball team that won the International Police tournament in St. Catherine’s, Canada in 1987. I have been on the Atlanta Police Department for 29 years and assigned to the PAL Division for more than seven years. I also played a role in getting the PAL gym built located at Anderson Park |

Officer Stanley E. Lawrence |
![]() Officer Stanley E. Lawrence earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, TN to play basketball, where he also studied Criminal Justice. After college, he played professional basketball in Europe, South America, and the Continental Basketball Association. Officer Lawrence has been on the Atlanta Police Department for 20 years and 5 of those years has been spent working at PAL. Officer Lawrence works out of the Dunbar Center, and he feels that it is his goal to ensure that every PAL participant realizes their full potential. |

Officer Richard Light |
![]() My name is Richard Light and I am originally from Akron Ohio. I moved to Georgia in 1987. Upon moving here I applied and became a police officer for the Atlanta Police Department. I have been working for the police department now for twenty-three years and have worked several assignments throughout my career here. My last assignment was a Task force officer with the (ATF) where I worked violent Federal gun cases. I have an interest in all sports and activities, and my hobbies are traveling, golf, weightlifting and financial investing. |

Officer V. Marcano Jr |
![]() My name is Vicente Marcano. I am a Hispanic male; my family is from Puerto Rico. I lived and grew up in the Bronx, New York. In New York, I worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer, working with the inner city citizen of the Bronx, in volunteer policing, in the 46 pct, for 11 years. I came to Atlanta in May of 2001 for the opportunity to become an Atlanta Police Officer. I worked in Zone 4, southwest Atlanta for most of my career and now I am assigned to the P.A.L. unit. I am looking forward to teaching and helping the inner city children with sports and life skill activities. |

Officer Tabitha P. Peterson |
![]() My name is Tabitha P. Peterson and I was born and raised here in Atlanta Georgia. During my early years of growing up here I became very fond of sports. I attended Fulton High School and played basketball, softball and ran track. I attended college on a basketball scholarship to South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1994. I returned back to Georgia to start my career. I applied first with the Atlanta Police Department on September, 2001 as a 911 dispatcher. I worked as a dispatcher for seven years before I decided to become a police officer. I was sworn in as an officer in August, 2007 and was assigned to Zone 3 day-watch shift. I patrolled and was responsible for crime on 308 beat (Cleveland Ave/Metropolitan area) before I was transferred to COPS/PAL Section and will be working at Anderson Park. I am looking forward to working with the kids in the community and providing activities, mentoring and guidance. |

Officer Michael Vail |
![]() My name is Michael Vail and I am from St. Louis, Missouri. I started boxing at the age of 8 years old. I am a former St. Louis Gloves, Diamond Gloves and Silver Gloves Champion. I lived and trained at the Olympic Education Center in Marquette Michigan from 1990-1992. I represented the United States in dual boxing competitions against Finland and Russia. I was hired with the Atlanta Police Department in the 1997 and started working with PAL in 1999 coaching at risk kids in boxing. I have been associated with PAL for the past 14 years most of the time at the A.D. Williams Center next to Bowen Homes. The program at A.D. Williams has produced numerous nationals. Donta Woods and William Farley have also lived at the Olympic Training Center and attended school at Northern Michigan University, Zachaeuus Hardrick is currently a member of the World Class Athlete Program Army boxing team and competition the 2008 Olympic Box-off. Also, former PAL Boxer Jevon Thomas is a graduate of the West Point Academy and is currently a 2nd Leiutenant. |
